To qualify, you had to keep $25,000 or more with Bank of America in an FDIC-insured account. For the time that I had the $25,000 minimum, I had no trouble with placing stock trades for no commission. And BOA executed the trades promptly.
Banc of America is now Merrill Lynch and hopefully that won't affect the quality of service. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the high cash requirement for the free trades. Wells Fargo gives you (fewer) free trades but for more reasonable terms.
