Is Your Next Investment Actually A Gamble?
There has been much written about the similarities and differences between gambling and investing. For the purpose of this article, this distinction will be defined as such: gambling is based on chance while investing is based on skill. In reality, things are not that black and white. You could argue that there are games like poker that require more skill than luck, or that highly speculative investments require more luck than skill. These types of arguments will be left out as they are beyond the scope of this blog post. What this blog post will focus on is how to tell if the success of your next stock investment is more dependent on luck or skill, and while this guide can be used for informational purposes, it should not be construed as professional financial advice.
